By controlling the germs in your house, you can eliminate health issues. For instance, viruses and bacteria thrive on a damp wash cloth, hand towel, or bath towel. Every time you use a towel, you shed dead skin cells. Food for bacteria and dust mites are your skin cells. When the towel is damp, then, you’ll have an invisible swarm of bacteria and dust mites.
After sleeping on your bed sheets for one week contain, they contain .1% of salmonella and E. coli bacteria. To kill all the bacteria, make sure that you wash your sheets in hot water. It’s hot water, not cold water, which will kill the germs.
Water bottles are another hot bed where bacteria like to grow. In order to conserve materials and keep water bottles out of the landfill, people refill water bottles. What you can’t see with the naked eye is that those water bottles are bacteria bombs. The warm moisture is the perfect environment where bacteria breed. Before refilling water bottles, wash them in hot water.
Charles Gerba, Ph.D., a professor of environmental microbiology at the University of Arizona says there are more microbial fecal matter from bacteria on your kitchen cutting board than there is on your toilet seat. The next time that you cut up a chicken, make sure that your cutting board has been cleaned with hot water.
